Translation editor · English to Thai
Interplae opens a Word or PDF document and sets each sentence beside its translation memory matches and glossary terms. A Word document comes back as the same file in Thai, with its styles, notes and links where they were.
The desktop app works without an account. Teams apply for an organisation. The first release is free.
God has spoken. God is a speaking God.
พระเจ้าทรงตรัส ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าผู้ตรัส
The editor
Each Segment shows its source, your translation, the closest matches from memory and the glossary terms it contains. Formatting you should not have to see stays out of the way.
A Segment you confirm enters the project's memory at once, so the next sentence like it is already matched. Memory imports and exports as TMX.
Each term is Use, Off or Prohibited. Use terms go to machine translation and autocomplete. If a Prohibited rendering is in your translation, confirming it warns you.
You can add bold, italics and links. Note references, fields and tabs can be moved but not deleted, and a Segment with one missing cannot be confirmed.
Every run you write is marked as Thai with the properties Word needs to break Thai lines correctly. Fonts and sizes are set per style for the whole document.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
ในปฐมกาลพระเจ้าทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดิน
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
ในปฐมกาลพระเจ้าทรงสร้างฟ้าสวรรค์และแผ่นดิน
Interplae reads it into paragraphs, headings, list items, notes and table cells.
The English is split into sentences. Your Thai is never split, since Thai sentences rarely divide the way English ones do.
A Word source comes back as the same file with the text replaced. A PDF comes back as a Word document in your template.
Teams
Your organisation applies on interplae.com. Once approved, it has its own address on interplae.app, and the person who applied becomes its first Admin.
A Manager creates the project, adds its documents, chooses the glossary lists and memories it reads, and names each person an Editor or a Translator.
An Editor gives each person a range of the document, from one heading to the next. One person edits a range at a time. Everyone else can read it.
A project you open to edit is kept on your computer, so you can keep working without a connection. Your changes go to the server when you reconnect.
When the book is done, a Manager copies its approved Segments into the organisation's memory, ready for the next project.
Privacy and keys
Use the machine translation provider you choose. Interplae's servers run no machine translation and never hold your key.
On a Mac it lives in the system keychain. In the browser it lives in the browser's own storage, for the session only if you prefer. It never enters the project file.
Before a document run, Interplae shows how many requests it will send, to which provider, and what each one carries. Translation as you move between Segments is off until you turn it on.
The people who run interplae.com see an organisation's standing and counts. They do not see its documents, memories or glossaries.
Each switch is in the project's settings.
Desktop and browser
The same editor runs in both. Projects on your computer need no account. Your organisation's projects appear beside them when you sign in.
Access
The application asks for a link to, or a copy of, your organisation's statement of faith and an affirmation of the Lausanne Covenant. Each one is read by a person. The first release is free.
